Wednesday evening, at the historic Stranahan House museum in downtown Fort Lauderdale off Las Olas Blvd, join us as we celebrate the winning of the 2014 Knight Art Challenge Grant!  Dillard Jazz Ensemble will play jazz on the front porch at the New River!  6pm-9pm, this fundraising event will be matched dollar for dollar by the Knight Foundation.  $50 tickets are limited in quantity and available online at Eventbrite or at the door. Meet the Artists:  Robin Haines Merrill, Pedro Zepeda-traditional Seminole artist, and Houston Cypress of the Miccosukee Tribe.  Houston will be screening "Row", winner of the Best Music Video in the ImagiNATIVE film festival.  A "Taste of the Village" culinary samplings and cultural interactive sites all around the Stranahan House grounds.


Artist Robin Merrill has organized an urban renewal project in the heart of Old Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with indigenous arts & crafts as a design element.  The Sovereign Nations of Seminole & Miccosukee will participate with their dugout Canoes and Patchwork, a textile that is proprietary to their nations.  Follow our progress and join us on Facebook or at the grant page:

Experience this cultural tradition of telling the Biblical story of Christmas

on colorful lit “Parols”.

Four Parols will be on display in the gallery until December 13,

on loan from the collection of Dr. Pangilinan of Miami.


The Upper Room Art Gallery is a non-profit collective of

artists & designers from around the world

who are concerned with global poverty, social justice

and environmental issues.

All purchases are sales tax exempt and benefit the projects

the artists are co-laboring with, including Fair Trade, economic development

within rescue centers and shelters around the world.
